Hull Cleaning, Sanding & Bottom Painting: Use the Off-Season to Get Your Boat Ready

A fast, efficient boat starts at the bottom. Over a season on the Chesapeake, barnacles, slime and grass build up on the hull, slowing you down and burning more fuel. The best time to fix that is while your boat is already out of the water.

At Parish Creek Landing, our yard crew offers hull cleaning, sanding and painting for boats stored in our yard.

Hull Cleaning

Every haul-out at PCL includes a wash of the hull. For bottoms that need more, we offer deeper cleaning to remove stubborn growth and old, flaking paint so the surface is ready for new coating.

Sanding and Prep

New bottom paint only holds as well as the surface underneath. Our crew sands the hull to give fresh paint a solid surface to bond to, using proper protective equipment and ground cover to keep the yard, and the Bay, clean. Parish Creek Landing is a certified Maryland Clean Marina.

Bottom Painting

Antifouling bottom paint slows the growth of barnacles and weed, protects the hull and keeps your boat running efficiently. We'll apply fresh bottom paint so your boat is protected for the season ahead.

Why Do It in the Off-Season?

  • Your boat is already hauled, washed and blocked
  • No lost boating days in spring
  • Time to inspect running gear, zincs and through-hulls while you're at it
  • Your boat is ready to splash the moment the weather turns

Rather Do It Yourself?

Parish Creek Landing allows DIY owners and outside contractors to work on boats on-site. If you'd rather sand and paint yourself, your boat can be blocked in our yard while you work.
